The incredible true story of the Million Dollar Quartet concert in small town Canada, but with the female Elvis instead!

This is a live music documentary telling the unsung story of four wild young musicians touring in their classic cars across Western Canada in 1957. Using classic guitars, images, and storytelling, Steve Olson will recreate this historic tour that also came to his hometown of Camrose, Alberta.

The music and cultural influence of Elvis Presley intertwines the destinies of future Hall of Famers Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Wanda Jackson in a one-man rockabilly show you won’t want to miss!

How it Started

It was the summer of 2019, and my wife and I were at our favourite cafe for a Saturday coffee. A sheet of paper taped to the wall caught my eye, and I walked up to read something that I almost couldn't believe. It was an old newspaper ad from 1957 for a concert that took place in my hometown of Camrose...

How it's Going

In 2024, Steve presented a 15-minute concept version of Johnny Cash & The Rockabillies (JC&R) at the Alberta Showcase. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, leading to strong interest from presenters.

In January 2026, Steve put the final polish on the show during a five-day residency at the Jeanne and Peter Performing Arts Centre in Camrose. This culminated in the official debut and three live SOLD OUT shows!

Now, JC&R is ready to tour, starting with plans to play in all 10 communities from the 1957 tour, and beyond, bringing this amazing Canadian story to the Prairies.

"I had no idea what I was coming to, but I loved every minute of it! [Steve] delivered the history, drama, and musicality beautifully."

Time travel with me

“More than one music fan…have wished for a time machine…to wedge into those packed auditoriums on the vast plains and in the Canadian Rockies…to see Johnny Cash [& The Rockabillies] young and raw and wild, singing into Art Deco microphones that looked like something that shook loose off the hood of an Oldsmobile…” – Rick Bragg
